Art & Cultural School Programs
The BAC provides three multi-cultural programs for the Branson elementary level students. The Irish Kaleidoscope for 3rd graders, Missouri History Program for 4th graders, and Russian Kaleidoscope for 5th graders. These programs provide education covering the art, music, traditions and culture of the artist’s countires and their people. The students see and experience the traditional dances, techniques of the rhythmic art forms, native instruments and a documentary video presentation. A general assembley for all students begins the program and then there are one hour workshops small group workshops where the students can meet and speak with the artists.
Children’s Literature Conference
The BAC provides 6th grade students the opportunity to meet children’s book authors and receive a free book to take home. This conference is both educational and enjoyable for authors, students and teachers.
Home School Art Classes
The BAC provides art classes for home schooled children during the school year. The classes are held at the BAC office, and the BAC provides the instructor as well as supplies and materials at a nominal cost. Classes will begin in Sept. of 2010. This program provides an educational extension in the art area as well as an opportunity for socialization with other students for Home Schooled children.
Hands on Clay for Children
This program serves over 80 children with free instruction utilizing local artists as instructors. Three classes of children ages7-12 and one class for youth ages 12-16. This is a very popular summer activity held on four Saturday mornings in June/July. There is also an “Open House” at the conclusion of the program. This features all of the pottery made by the students during this activity.
Children’s Theatre Workshop
This very popular activity features a week-long interactive theatre session for children which culminates in a public performance at the end. The BAC provides 3 of these week-long sessions, 2 for younger children ages 7-12 and one for youth ages 12-16. This workshop is taught by Missouri certified theatre instructors. This activity is held during July. Over 80 youth participate with 300 or more in attendance at the 3 public performances.
Educational Youth Symphony
This is a partnership with the Dick Clark Theatre, the Springfield Symphony and the BAC. The Symphony provides an educational concert for youth in Branson. Approximately 50 symphony members brought life to the symphony for over 700 children in the Branson area. This is the first time for many of the children to see a live symphony. It is educational as well as very entertaining.
Area Children’s Art Fairs & Exhibits
The BAC participates in various community fairs and festivals. Our booth encourages young artists to participate in creating and experiencing the enjoyment of developingartistic abilities. It is also a chance for youth to display their art in public places.
Art Scholarships
The BAC offers several scholarships to support the study of arts and culture. The BAC provides scholarships to Art, Music & Theatre students at the College of the Ozarks yearly. Also, the BAC contributes scholarship money used as prizes for the Adelyn Valet Tanneyhills Library High School Art Exhibit and Contest. Other student scholarships are awarded on a case by case basis.
